HOW TO JOIN THE AERO CLUB AND START YOUR FLIGHT TRAINING

STEP ONE:

First you must be eligible to join the Aero Club. You are eligible if you are military, retired military, dependent, reserve, CAP member, base contractor, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Secret Service Agents, Federal Aviation Administration employees or local college Air Force ROTC. If you are not sure of your eligibility, please give us a call.

Fill in the Membership Application Package, print it and bring it to the Aero Club. If this is your first time joining an Aero Club you are required to pay a one time initiation fee of $35.00. Monthly dues are $25.00 for a single member and family dues are $35.00.  If you are coming from another Aero Club, bring a copy of  your letter of good standing and your initiation fee will be waived.

STEP TWO:

Before you ever start your Private, Instrument or Multi-engine flight training, you must present to us a current Passport or an original Birth Certificate.  This is a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) rule and applies to most everyone who undertakes flight training.  This is not required if you are taking the Private Pilot or Instrument ground school.  Flight review and proficiency check, or tailwheel, high performance, and complex endorsements are exempt. If you have a questions, please give us a call.

To read the requirements for US Citizens visit the AOPA web site.

For Non US Citizens, please stop by the club or give us a call and we will be glad to assist you with the requirements to start your TSA Process.

Requirements for Non US Citizens can be obtained from the AOPA  web site.

STEP THREE:

Prior to solo in your Private Pilot Flight Training you must have at least a Third Class Medical with Student Pilot Certificate. The student pilot certificate is on the back side of the medical.  This medical must be obtained from a FAA Designated Medical Examiner.

NOTE: A medical is not required for ground school - only for flight training.

STEP FOUR:

Start your Ground Training to becoming a PIlot. We conduct formal ground classes for Private Pilot. You save money with the formal ground class. If you are military; Tuition Assistance will pay for the class, but not the cost of your books. The Army TA  will not cover any ground classes. We conduct these classes throughout the year. Check our calender, on the Ground School page, for the next available class.
